Christoph Garbe becomes a member of the EMVA Board of Directors

Dr. Christoph Garbe, CEO at HD Vision Systems, joins the board of the European Machine Vision Association (EMVA). The members elected Dr. Garbe to its esteemed board of directors, which promotes the interests and networking of European Machine Vision companies.

Heidelberg, June 2nd 2021. The members of the EMVA have elected Dr. Christoph Garbe, CEO at HD Vision Systems, to the association’s board of directors with a clear majority. The physicist with a doctorate and habilitation in computer vision will now represent the EMVA externally together with his board colleagues. “I am grateful for the trust that the members of the EMVA have placed in me. In the next three years, I would therefore like to fully commit myself to their interests,” Christoph Garbe rejoices.

He would like to use his term of office to bring new developments in Machine Vision even more strongly into industrial application. To this end, he would like to build bridges to new technologies: Christoph Garbe plans to make the EMVA more accessible to young companies and startups through various formats. This forms a missing link between leading international research institutions as a breading ground for innovation, often spawning startups, and established innovative companies within the EMVA. Activities to this end will bring significant added benefit to all members and lay the ground for continued growth of the EMVA. Within the umbrella of collaboration, innovation will also to be strengthened by various training programs, especially on new trends and technologies.

At the same time, Christoph Garbe would also like to advocate that machine vision should not only be understood as sensors and components, but that the software side should be strengthened further. “Today’s challenging requirements in the industrial manufacturing landscape paired with the immense performance of today’s Vision Controllers make applications a central component of modern Machine Vision. In order to continue to provide the market with excellent solutions, a perfect interplay between precise sensors and high-performance software is indispensable,” says Dr. Garbe.

Since its foundation in 2003, the EMVA has united the interests of various industry representatives related to machine vision. The non-profit association is dedicated to both networking and promoting the development and use of machine vision technologies. Membership is open to all companies involved in or using Machine Vision, Computer Vision, Embedded Vision or other imaging technologies. Currently the EMVA consists of 138 international member companies.
